Once you submit a FlexPath assessment attempt for evaluation, Capella faculty have two business days to score it. Business days exclude weekends and holidays, so an assessment sent Thursday night may not come back until Monday or Tuesday. Because each course runs on a 12-week clock and a Basic or Non-performance result means another attempt and another two-day wait, timing your submissions early in the week is one of the quietest ways to protect your pace.
The two-business-day rule
Capella's advising answers state that after you submit an attempt, faculty have two business days to evaluate and respond. Two business days means Monday-to-Friday, minus holidays — the clock pauses over the weekend. Submitting Friday afternoon typically means a response around Tuesday, not Saturday.
Why timing matters more in FlexPath
FlexPath is flat-rate per 12-week billing session, so your enemy is not money per assessment, it is calendar. Every attempt that comes back below Proficient costs you another cycle: revise, resubmit, wait up to two more business days. Front-loading your week — submitting Monday or Tuesday — leaves room for a revision loop inside the same week instead of losing a weekend to the queue.
What a scored assessment looks like
FlexPath does not return a single grade. Faculty score each criterion in the scoring guide at one of four levels — Non-performance, Basic, Proficient, or Distinguished — with comments. To pass, the work generally needs to reach Proficient or Distinguished across the criteria; a single Basic row can send the whole assessment back for another attempt.
