Vila Health is Capella's set of interactive, branching scenarios — a fictional health system you click through — that many NURS-FPX and NHS-FPX assessments build on. You are not graded on clicking through the simulation. You are graded on the write-up you produce from it: the decisions you made, the evidence behind them, and how they map to the scoring guide. Reflective entries tied to a scenario are commonly 100 to 400 words each, so the real work is translating what you saw into criterion-aligned analysis.
What Vila Health is
Vila Health is a simulated community and health system Capella uses to give nursing and health-sciences students realistic situations without a clinical placement. You move through a scenario, review documents and characters, and make decisions that branch the story. It is a teaching device, not a proctored test, and it exists to give you something concrete to analyse in writing.
What actually gets graded
The simulation itself carries no score. Your assessment is scored against its written scoring guide, exactly like any other FlexPath deliverable: each criterion at Non-performance, Basic, Proficient, or Distinguished. The evaluator is reading whether your write-up shows sound reasoning, cites credible evidence, and connects the scenario to the competency — not whether you reached a particular ending in the simulation.
Turning decisions into criterion-mapped writing
Treat the scenario as your data. For each decision point, state what you chose, why, and what evidence supports it, then tie that back to the specific criterion the scoring guide names. Where a reflective entry is required, keep it inside the stated word range (often 100 to 400 words) and make every sentence earn its place: observation, reasoning, evidence, implication.
Where you meet it
Vila Health shows up across the nursing and health-sciences sequence — scenarios on ethical decision making, care coordination, quality and safety, and the impact of technology on practice are common examples. The exact scenario and word counts are set by your course, so your own courseroom instructions and scoring guide are always the final word.
